The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling about 1,000 Montessori N’ Such metal containers because the paint on them contains excessive levels of lead and violates the federal lead paint standard.
The commission said no incidents and injuries have been reported.
The recalled metal containers by Montessori N’ Such of Sterling, Va., are used to hold instructional materials for students. For more details, see the recall notice from the commission for a complete list of colours and item numbers.
The containers were sold nationally on Montessori N’ Such’s website and through its catalogues to schools and individuals from July 2006 through January 2009 for between $2.50 US and $7 US per item.
The commission advises adults to immediately take the recalled containers away from children, and contact the company for a free replacement or refund. All known purchasers have been contacted.
