Portable barbecue lacks proper warning labels

Health Canada is recalling BBQ Instantanne Portable Charcoal BBQ because the product fails to meet warning label requirements outlined by federal regulations.

The portable BBQ are sold as a one-time use cooking appliance. The product has a grill and a large metal pan containing charcoal, supported by legs above the surface on which it sits. It can be identified by UPC no. 059261206508.

Health Canada said the missing warning label can result in improper use and cause bodily harm such as headaches, nausea, fatigue and possibly death from carbon monoxide poisoning if used in a confined, unventilated area.

It has not received any reports of injuries or illness related to the use of this product.

About 1,000 of the portable BBQs, manufactured in China, were sold at various retail stores in Quebec from March 2008 to January 2009. For more information, consumers can contact Promotions C.D. Inc. at 1-450-646-1141.
