L.L. Bean has ordered a recall of its elastic webbing of cleats that people can attach to their boots for additional traction while walking on snow or ice.
The company says consumers should immediately stop using the STABILicers Lite ice cleats because they can detach, increasing the risk of falling.
L.L. Bean says 308 pairs of the ice cleats were sold to Canadians through U.S. stores, the internet and catalogues.
The recalled products, made in the United States, were sold from January 2008 to December 2008.
Anyone who bought the recalled boot harness may contact L.L. Bean to receive a replacement or refund.
The company says it has received reports of several broken products, but no injuries.
The recall involves STABILicers Lite ice cleats with model number OBNX9. The cleats affected by the recall were sold in: royal blue jelly, wild berry jelly and blaze orange jelly.
