The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 12,000 bicycles with R-SYS front wheel rims because the spokes may break, posing a hazard to riders.
The importer, Mavic USA of Haverhill, Mass., has received a report of an injury involving broken teeth.
The recall includes R-SYS and R-SYS Premium rims, marked R-SYS and sold with bikes or separately. They were sold from May 2007 to December 2008 for between $700 US and $750 for the front wheel of the two-wheel set.
Consumers can call Mavic USA at (800) 664-9228 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday for information.
