Listeria suspected in Hygaard products

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled five products made by Hygaard Fine Foods EST 318 of Sherwood Park, Alta., because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The products are the 312-gram Hygaard Lumberjack Sub, with a Jan. 30 best-before date; the 387-gram Hygaard Little John Sub (also Jan. 30); the 798-gram Hygaard mini pizza sub family pack, best before March 6; 738-gram Hygaard mini ham sub family pack (also March 6); and the 822-gram Hygaard mini hoagie family pack (March 6).

The products were distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, and Ontario.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not smell or look spoiled.

No illnesses have been reported from eating the products being recalled.

Other Hygaard products were recalled Jan. 19.
