An Alberta sandwich producer has recalled some of its products because of concerns about possible contamination with traces of listeria.
Hygaard-brand sandwiches might be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said in an advisory.
The suspected sandwiches include the 140 gram Hygaard Mini Pizza and the 378 gram Little John subs, which bear best-before dates of Feb. 10.
The products were sold in Saskatchewan and northern Alberta, according to the advisory.
No illnesses from the products have yet been reported.
Sherwood Park, Alta., manufacturer HQ Fine Foods EST 318 has voluntarily removed the products from the marketplace, the CFIA said.
The agency added it is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
Food contaminated with listeria may not look or smell spoiled. But consumption of contaminated food may cause listeriosis, which includes symptoms such as neck stiffness, nausea, fever and severe headache.
