Health Canada expands recall of rattles

Health Canada is expanding its recall of Infantino Lion and Lamb Grabby Rattles issued in March 2008 because more units of the doll were sold than reported in the original recall.
The rubber tail piece on the rattle can detach, posing a choking hazard.
The rattles are shaped like a lion or lamb with an Infantino elliptical-shaped logo stamped on the front right foot of the lamb. The recall includes model number 150-3104 with UPC code 773554031041, and model number 158-270 with UPC code 773554582703.
Not included in the recall are: rattles without rubber tails; rattles with date code 0108 or 0508 printed on the back of the left ear; and rattles that do not have a date code. The production batch code is printed in a dial format with the year in the middle of a circle and an arrow pointing to the number on the circle that indicates the month.
Infantino has received 10 reports of the tail piece detaching from the rattle since March 2008, with no reported injuries. Health Canada has not received reports of incidents with use of the product.
It advises consumers to take the rattle away from young children.
About 2,000 units, manufactured in China, were sold in Canada, primarily at Winners, but also at a variety of independent toy stores from May 2007 to September 2008. Health Canada recalled 360 units in March 2008.
