Allergy alert issued for chocolate bars, spreads

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued recalls for certain Life brand chocolate bars because the products contain milk not declared on their labels.

The recall issued Saturday affects the following 100-g bars:


  • Life brand Premium Swiss Dark Chocolate with Orange, UPC 0 57800 16450 0.
  • Life brand Premium Swiss Dark Chocolate 72% Cocoa, UPC 0 57800 16449 4.

No related illnesses have been reported.

The bars were sold in Shoppers Drug Mart stores and Pharmaprix stores across the country.

In a separate recall issued Friday, the CFIA announced a recall for Duhaime Chocolat issued Friday, the CFIA announced a recall for Duhaime Chocolaté spreads because they also contain milk not listed on its label.

The recall affects the following products sold in 150-gram jars:


  • Banana and Bourbon Vanilla, UPC 7 63026 00215 0.
  • Black Tea and Vanilla Bourbon, UPC 7 63026 00615 8.
  • Cranberry and Lemon, UPC 7 63026 00715 5.
  • Fig and Port, UPC 7 63026 00515 1.
  • Lychee, Ginger and Lemon, UPC 7 63026 00815 2.
  • Orange and Cardamom, UPC 7 63026 00415 4.
  • Pear and Dark Rum, UPC 7 63026 00915 9.
  • Red Pepper, Honey and Paprika, UPC 7 63026 01115 2.
  • Santos Bourbon Coffee, UPC 7 63026 00315 7.
  • Strawberry and Kiwi, UPC 7 63026 00115 3.

The spreads were distributed in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia.

No related illnesses have been reported.
