Duracell power adapters recalled for burn danger

California-based Battery-Biz is recalling about 1,300 Duracell 130W power adapters used with notebook computers because they may overheat, creating a burn hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday.

The company has learned of five adapters overheating. No injuries were reported.

The recall affects the adapters with the model numbers EA10900, AC-6501, and DRUM130 and date codes 0804 and 0805 sold through www.dell.com and www.duracelldirect.com from February 2008 through March 2008 for between $80 and $120 US.

The adapters were made in China.

Consumers should stop using the products and contact Battery-Biz for a free replacement.
