Bicycle wheels recalled for safety hazard
- October 24, 2008 2:27 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
About 275 Shimano wheel sets for bicycles are being withdrawn because they may pose a safety hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
The CPSC warns the rim surface and the spoke hole plugs may puncture the inner tube, causing a flat tire.
No associated incidents have been reported.
The recall affects the Dura Ace Carbon Clincher sets with the model number WH-7850 C24CL sold in U.S. stores from April 2008 through August 2008 for about $1,300 US.
The products were made in Malaysia.
The CPSC says consumers should remove the wheels from their bikes and contact their dealer for an inspection and repair.
