Lawnmower jacks recalled for collapse risk

Iowa-based Shivvers Manufacturing Inc. is recalling about 450 lawnmower jacks because they may collapse, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Friday.

The company has learned of five related incidents and received 37 warranty claims for replacement parts. The jacks are used for lifting the large mowers for service or maintenance.

The U.S.-made jacks were sold through Country Clippers dealers in the U.S. from May 2007 through June 2008 for about $150 US. They were also sold in kits priced at $225.

Consumers should stop using the jacks and contact their local dealer for a repair.
