Health Canada is warning consumers against taking health products sold under the brand names Life Choice, Healthy Choice, Doctor's Choice and Your Choice, which are not authorized for sale in the country.
Products sold under these brand names contain prescription drugs that should be taken only under the supervision of a health-care professional.
Health Canada also notes three products, branded as Healthy Choice Lean & Trim, Life Choice Folic Acid and Life Choice Raw Desiccated Thyroid Glandular, are tainted with bacteria. Use of these products could cause serious adverse health effects particularly among infants, children, the elderly and those with an underlying condition.
Health Canada says retailers should remove the products from their store shelves. Consumers who may have taken these products should contact their health-care practitioner with questions.
