Toasters pose fire hazard

Health Canada has recalled about 4,000 Black & Decker Infrawave Toasters because they may catch fire.

Importer Applica Canada Corp. has received four reports of the toasters overheating, including two cases of fires that damaged kitchens. There have been no reported injuries.

The two-slice toasters are black with stainless steel trim, have a digital display below the toaster lever, the Black & Decker name on top and the model number ST2000 on the bottom.

An electrical component in the toaster can overheat and ignite the circuit board.

The toasters, made in China, were sold from March 2007 through November 2007 across the country.

Consumers can call Applica at (800) 556-9439 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to get a refund.
