Thane recalls steam cleaners because of burn hazard

The voluntary recall, which involves about 134,000 units, was issued after Thane received 27 reports of burn injuries to hands and fingers of consumers. Thane is based in La Quinta, Calif.

The steam cleaners are white and dark grey. "H20" and "M" are printed on the steam cleaners. Model number YQ3888 and the "produce code" are printed on a label on the underside of the units. This recall only includes steam cleaners with "produce codes" from 071025 through 080324.

The product, made in China, was sold through television infomercials in North America and at the company's website. It was shipped to consumers from December 2007 through May 2008. The steam cleaners were offered as a bonus item with a payment of shipping and handling of $14.95 with the purchase of an H20 mop.

Consumers are being advised to stop using the steam cleaners immediately and contact Thane to receive a $30 coupon to buy another Thane product or to receive a free replacement steam cleaner.
