The recall, which involves 1,004 cushions sold across Canada, was issued because the cushion covers could easily catch fire and cause serious burns to consumers if exposed to a flame or other heat source such as a candle, matches, cigarette lighter or electric heater. No injuries have been reported.
The full product name as it appears on the tag is as follows: 23-871, Abstract Organdy cushion cover brown; 23-872, Abstract Organdy cushion cover mole; 23-873, Abstract Organdy cushion cover taupe; and 23-874, Abstract Organdy cushion cover black.
The cushion covers, imported by Accents de Ville Imports Inc., of Montreal, Que., were sold between August 2003 and December 2006.
Health Canada is advising consumers to stop using the recalled cushion covers immediately. Consumers may return the cushion covers to the importer for a full refund. For additional information, consumers may contact the importer's customer service at 514-364-6465 or toll free at 1-800-663-2384.
