Erectile product has undisclosed ingredient

Health Canada has warned consumers that an unauthorized product for erectile dysfunction contains an undeclared ingredient similar to the prescription drug sildenafil, which can hurt or kill users with a heart condition.

Cana International Distributing is recalling Rize 2 The Occasion capsules from stores and units sold over the internet.
The sildenafil-like ingredient in the capsules can result in serious cardiovascular side-effects such as sudden cardiac death, heart attack, stroke, low blood pressure, chest pain and abnormal heartbeat for patients with heart disease.

Sildenafil may also cause vision loss, seizures, sudden decrease or loss of hearing, dizziness, prolonged erections, headaches, flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion and abdominal pain. It should not be used by individuals taking any type of nitrate drug (e.g., nitroglycerin) because it may cause life-threatening low blood pressure.

Sildenafil should only be used under the supervision of a health-care professional.

Unauthorized means the product lacks an eight-digit drug identification number, a natural product number or a homeopathic medicine number, given by Health Canada to products that have been assessed for safety, effectiveness and quality.
