Davenport cribs recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 500 Davenport cribs
because they could allow children to fall.

The cribs don't meet U.S. federal safety standards because the distance from the mattress to the railing is too short, so children could crawl over the railing and fall.

No injuries have been reported.

The recall includes crib models that begin with the model numbers 273-xxxx-xxxx and have manufacture dates on or before August 2007 printed on a label on the right side of the lower inner panel.

Newer Davenport cribs with model numbers beginning with 244-xxxx-xxxx are not included in the recall.

The cribs were sold from December 2006 through September 2007 for between $600 US and $800 US.

The importer, Baby Appleseed, of City of Industry, Calif., will provide consumers with a repair kit as of mid-August.
