The product, made in China, is sold as Wolf SL Carbon Fiber Bicycle Forks.
The voluntary recall, which involves about 5,800 units, was issued after Cervelo received 12 reports of forks cracking or breaking. One person suffered a broken wrist while another suffered minor abrasions.
The forks have a clear coating over black painted carbon fibre, with the words "Wolf Superlite" and related logo just below the crown on each fork leg, and the letters "SL" on each leg above the fork blade dropouts.
There is a True Temper CRTâ„¢ logo on the inside of both fork legs. The forks could have been included on the following bicycle models: R3, R3 SL, Soloist Carbon, Soloist Carbon SL, and certain P3 Carbon frame sets and complete bicycles.
The product was sold at independent bicycle retailers in North America from November 2005 to July 2007 for about $475.
Consumers are being advised to stop using bicycles equipped with the forks and to contact their authorized Cervelo dealer to arrange to have a replacement fork installed.
