Unauthorized erectile enhancement drugs pose serious health risks: Health Canada

Heath Canada is warning consumers that certain erectile enhancement drugs not authorized for sale in Canada may pose serious health risks.

The federal agency said in a warning issued Monday that the following drugs contain the prescription drug sildenafil, which should only be taken under a health professional's supervision:


  • Super Shangai Strong Testis.
  • Shangai Ultra.
  • Shangai Ultra X.
  • Lady Shangai.
  • Shangai Regular (also known as Shangai Chaojimengnan).
  • Actra-Sx.
  • An unknown product containing the plant Lycium barbarum L.
  • Adam Free.
  • NaturalUp.
  • Erextra.
  • Yilishen.
  • Blue Steel.
  • Hero.
  • Naturalë Super Plus.

Possible side-effects include cardiac death, heart attack, stroke, hypertension, chest pain, temporary vision loss, seizure, prolonged erection, headache, flushing, nasal congestion and abdominal pain.

The products were not sold in Canada but may have been brought into the country by travellers or purchased online.
