Reebok International Ltd. recalls exercise cycles for safety hazard

Fitness Associates Incorporated has recalled about 20,000 exercise cycles sold to health clubs in Canada and the U.S. because the alloy cranks may break, creating a laceration and abrasion hazard to users, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The company has learned of five cranks breaking, involving three injuries requiring stitches.

The recall affects the Reebok Studio Cycle sold from 1997 through 2000. The bikes were made in the U.S.

Health club owners should stop use of the bikes and contact the company.
