- By Peter Hadzipetros
Minnesota-based Polaris Industries Inc. is recalling about 1,360 snowmobiles sold in the U.S., the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Friday.
The CPSC warns the starter ring gear may break off, creating serious danger to users.
The company has learned of 10 associated reports. No injuries have been reported.
The recall includes the 2008 Polaris 550 LX, Trail Touring and Trail Touring Deluxe snowmobiles as well as parts sold for service work.
The snowmobiles were sold from Polaris dealers in the U.S. from May 2007 through June 2008 for between $5,900 and $6,300.
The snowmobiles were made in the U.S.
Consumers should stop using the snowmobiles and contact their dealer for a free repair.
