- By Peter Hadzipetros
Illinois-based Pacific Science Supplies Inc., is recalling about 40,000 magnets because they contain high levels of lead, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
The recall affects the following products:
- Large and small u-shaped magnets.
- Large and miniature bar magnets.
- Magnet sets.
- Magnet needle sets.
The magnets were sold directly to U.S. schools and through educational stores from April 2000 through February 2008 for about $9 US.
They were made in China.
No adverse health effects have been reported.
Consumers should stop using the magnets and contact the company for a replacement.
