Health Canada warns against use of Mommy's Bliss Nipple Cream
- July 2, 2008 11:16 AM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
Health Canada warned consumers Monday against using Mommy's Bliss Nipple Cream, a product not authorized for sale in Canada.
The federal agency said if nursing infants ingest the product, they could experience difficulty breathing and dehydration. The product may also irritate the mother's nipple and surrounding skin.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a similar advisory, cautioning consumers the product contains the preservatives chlorphenesin and phenoxyethanol.
No associated adverse reactions have been reported in Canada.
Consumers with health concerns should contact a health-care professional or Health Canada at 1-866-225-0709.
