Parragon Books is recalling about 500,000 children's necklaces because they contain high levels of lead, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
No adverse health effects have been reported.
The necklaces were packaged with a book titled The Magical Ballet Slippers or Ballerina's Magical Shoes. A Spanish version of the book was titled Las zapatillas magicas de la bailarina while a French book was published under the name Les petits chaussons magiques.
The books were sold in U.S. stores from January 2003 through June 2008 for about $7. The necklaces were made in China.
Caregivers should take the necklaces away from children and contact the company for return information.
