American Weigh Scales is recalling about 1,300 Bench Scale Adapters because they may smoke or catch fire, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday.
The company has learned of three related incidents in which the adapters smoked after being plugged in. No injuries were reported.
The recall affects adapters the following models:
- AMW-13.
- AMW-1000.
- AMW-2000.
- AMW-500i.
The scales were sold online from February 2008 through March 2008 for about $10 US.
Consumers should stop using the adapters and should return them to American Weigh Scales for a replacement.
The scales were made in China.
