A manufacturer of heat therapy patches used to relieve muscle pain is recalling certain of its products after some consumers reported skin irritation and burns.

BD Canada says the recall applies to all lot numbers and sizes of Tensor Heat Therapy products, but does not apply to other Tensor brand products. The company is withdrawing the products permanently from the market.

The air-activated patches are disposable and designed for one-time use.

Consumers who have unused Tensor heat patches can call 1-866-315-9591 to arrange their return and a refund; the help line is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET. The patches will be refunded at manufacturer's suggested retail price until Aug. 31, 2008, the company said.

Earlier this year Chattem Canada recalled its Icy Hot Heat Therapy patches following reports of skin irritation and burns among people who had used the products.
