- By Peter Hadzipetros
Health Canada is expanding an earlier health-hazard alert for the product Desire, a male sexual performance drug that has not been authorized for sale in Canada.
The advisory now includes Lot 84881 in addition to Lot 0070263. The federal agency says the drug contains phentolamine, a prescription medication that should only be taken under the supervision of a health care professional.
Use of phentolamine in patients may cause side-effects including dizziness, loss of consciousness, prolonged erection, headache and abdominal pain.
The drug is manufactured by Desire LLC and distributed by New York-based StarChem Labs.
Consumers with questions can call Health Canada at 1-866-225-0709.
