Hewlett-Packard Co. is recalling about 450,000 fax machines that may overheat and cause burns or catch fire, U.S. officials said Friday.
The recall involves HP Fax 1010 and HP Fax 1010xi models manufactured from November 2002 through September 2004. The
products were made in China and were available in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
The company has received three reports of overheating including two that caused minor property damage, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. No injuries have been reported.
Consumers should disconnect their fax machine from the outlet and contact HP for a rebate.
