Danby Dehumidifiers recalled for fire hazard
- June 9, 2008 3:48 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
Guelph, Ont.-based Danby Products Ltd. is recalling about 19,500 dehumidifiers because they pose a fire hazard, Health Canada said Monday.
The recall affects Simplicity-brand dehumidifiers with the model number SDR204 sold in Canadian stores between February 2004 and May 2008.
Health Canada warns the wiring in the units may short-circuit and ignite. The company has learned of four possibly related incidents.
Consumers should contact Danby to return the dehumidfiers.
