Cribs recalled due to possible entrapment hazard

The U.S. manufacturer of 2nd Nature Built to Grow cribs is recalling them because of a possible entrapment hazard.

Stanley Furniture Company, of Stanleytown, Va., said Wednesday the cribs could fail to meet a federal safety standard for crib dimensions.

When the mattress support is in the middle setting, the space between the mattress and the crib could be too wide, posing an entrapment hazard to infants, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

About 1,200 of the cribs were sold at stores across the United States from March 2006 through December 2007 for about $1,100.

Consumers should immediately stop using the Slovenian-made crib in the middle mattress setting, and adjust it to the low or high setting. Consumers should contact Stanley Furniture to determine if their crib is subject to the recall, and if it is, to receive a free replacement crib headboard.
