320,000 Jardine cribs recalled in U.S.

About 320,000 Jardine cribs are being recalled in the U.S. for strangulation and entrapment concerns.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday wooden slats and spindles may break, creating a safety hazard for children. Taipei-based Jardine Enterprises has learned of 42 related incidents, including four instances in which children became trapped.

The cribs were sold in U.S. stores and online through babiesrus.com from January 2002 through May 2008 for between $150 and $450.

The recall applies to the following models:

  • Windsor Drop Side Dark Pine Single Crib.
  • Hilton Drop Side Cherry Single Crib.
  • Windsor Cherry Single Sleigh Crib.
  • Berkley Drop Side Cherry Flat Panel Single Crib.
  • Windsor Drop Side Honey Pine/Honey Single Crib
  • Berkley Drop Side White Flat Panel Single Crib.
  • Wicker 3-in-1 White Crib.

It was not immediately clear if the cribs were sold in Canada.

Consumers should stop using the cribs and contact the company for a credit.
