Smith's Snacks recalls 2nd set of sandwiches

For the second time within a week, a recall has been issued about sandwiches produced by an eastern Newfoundland manufacturer.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Smith's Snack Service Ltd. have issued a warning about sandwiches sold under the Chicken Club Twister label.

Smith's is voluntarily recalling the sandwiches because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Last week, CFIA and Smith's issued a similar recall of a series of small sub sandwiches.

As with the earlier sandwiches, the chicken club sandwiches were distributed only in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The CFIA said contaminated sandwiches may not look or smell spoiled, and that eating them can cause fever, headache, neck stiffness and nausea.

A recall statement said the sandwiches have a best-before date of June 8, and carry a code of 6 23858 00045.
