California-based Munchkin Inc. is recalling about 5,000 bottle and food warmers because they may overheat, posing a fire hazard, the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission said Thursday.
The company has received nine reports of warmers overheating, involving reports of damage to countertops.
The recall affects the Munchkin Deluxe Bottle and Food Warmer with Pacifier Cleaning Basket 2-in-2 design, model #13301 and lot number TP-1487.
The product was sold in U.S. stores and through the company's catalogue from June 2007 through April 2008 for about $20 US.
The warmers were manufactured in China.
Consumers should stop using the affected warmers and contact the company for a free replacement.
