Simmer pots recalled for fire dangers
- April 24, 2008 3:01 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
About 830,000 electric simmer pots are being recalled because they pose fire and electric shock dangers, the U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission said Thursday.
The products, imported by Massachusetts-based Waxcessories Inc., were sold in U.S. stores from April 2002 through April 2008 for between $17 and $25 US.
The company has learned of 161 incidents in which cords on the pots came loose and separated. No associated injuries have been reported.
The simmer pots were manufactured in China.
Consumers should stop using the product and contact the CPSC for a replacement.
