Nintendo lapel pins contain lead
- April 29, 2008 2:07 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
About 71,000 lapel pins depicting 12 popular video game characters have been recalled because they contain high lead levels, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
There have been no reported incidents, but lead is toxic to young children.
The pins were sold at Nintendo stores in Redmond, Wash., and New York City between April 2004 and November 2007 for between $1.50 and $4, and were also distributed to employees at electronics and game stores.
I
The pins are between 2.5 and 5 cm tall, showing characters Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Mario, Mario Kart, Pikachu, Princess Peach, Samus, Starfox, Waluigi and Wario.
For more information, consumers can call Nintendo at (800) 431-0971 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday.
