Comfortplus rug warmers recalled for fire hazard
- April 8, 2008 9:46 AM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
Health Canada on Monday issued an advisory warning consumers that Comfortplus Under Area Rug Warmers pose a fire hazard to users and are being withdrawn from the marketplace.
Cords on the rug warmers, manufactured by WarmlyYours, can detach from the plug, creating a fire danger, Health Canada said. The company has learned of two associated incidents, including one report of a fire. No injuries were reported.
The recall affects rugs with the model numbers UAH-3646-120, UAH-4979-120, and UAH-7999-120. The rugs were sold in stores across Canada and through online retailers for between $200 and $600. The rugs were manufactured in Canada and China.
Consumers should stop using the rug warmers and return the cord to the company for a replacement.
