Plush rocker toys recalled for fall hazard

About 122,000 Rock 'N Ride Rocker toys are being recalled because the base may tip backward or forward, creating a fall danger, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

Texas-based Tek Nek Toys has learned of 35 incidents in which rockers tipped, including 10 reports of injuries including bumps, bruises and lacerations.

The recall affects the following models:

  • Rock 'N Ride Pony (in pink, brown and deluxe).

  • Rock 'N Ride unicorn.

  • Rock 'N Ride Deluxe Bull.

  • Rock 'N Ride Lil' Penguin.

  • Rock 'N Ride Lil' Propeller Plane.

  • Rock 'N Ride Clifford Big Red Rocker.

The battery compartments of the rockers are stamped with a date code ranging from July 26, 2007, through Dec. 29, 2007. The toys were sold through U.S. stores and online retailers from September 2007 through March 2008 for about $30 US.

The products were manufactured in China.

Consumers should take the rockers away from children and contact the company for a replacement base.
