Kawasaki recalls off-road bikes

Kawasaki Motors Corp. has recalled its KLX140 off-road motorcycles because welds in the frame could be missing or defective, allowing the frame to crack or break, the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission said.

About 200 of the green bikes, made in Thailand, were sold in the first two months of 2008 for about $2,700 US each.

No injuries have been reported resulting from broken or missing welds.

Consumers who bought the bikes should go to a Kawasaki dealer to arrange a free inspection and repair.
