Toy egg shakers recalled for safety hazards
- February 12, 2008 9:14 AM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
Iowa-based West Music Company is pulling about 5,500 transparent toy egg shakers because they pose choking and aspiration dangers, said the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The CPSC said the end cap may break off the eggs, spilling small beads. The company has learned of one end cap detaching. No injuries have been reported to the company.
The recall affects the Basic Beat and Jumbo Egg Crystal egg shakers with the model numbers “BB5102” and “202212.”
The products were sold in U.S. stores and through the company's website from October 2006 through December 2007 for about $2 US.
The egg shakers were manufactured in China.
Caregivers should take the eggs away from young children and contact the company for a replacement.
