Sketchbooks recalled for high lead content

New York-based eeBoo Corp is recalling about 80,000 sketchbooks because paint on the metal binding contains levels of lead that exceed safety standards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.

The recall applies to the following book styles sold in the U.S.:

  • Drawing birds.
  • Butterflies.
  • Garden party.
  • Up in the tree.
  • Nemo with princess in balloon.
  • Princess with butterflies.

The sketchbooks, which were manufactured in China, were sold from September 2005 through January 2008 for about $6 US.
