Polaris expands ATV recall to include more models

Polaris is expanding an earlier recall of all-terrain vehicles to include more models, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

Since the original recall was issued in June 2005, the company has received an additional 372 reports of defective electronic control modules smoking or melting. Another 20 cases reported fires.

The vehicles were sold in the U.S. from July 2004 through January 2008 and ranged in price from $3,800 US to $7,900 US.

A full list of recalled vehicles is available on the company's website.

Consumers should disconnect the battery from the ATV when not in use and contact their Polaris dealer for a repair.
