Ladders recalled for fall hazard
Wednesday, February 20, 2008 | 04:37 PM ET
Louisville Ladder Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of its fibreglass extension ladders due to a risk of fall.
The extension or "fly" section of the "Louisville/Davidson" and "Michigan" Brand Fiberglass Extension Ladders can fail to lock, posing a fall hazard to users. No injuries or incidents have been reported.
The recall involves about 25,000 Type I, IA or II extension ladders with fibreglass rails and "D" shaped aluminum rungs made from September to October 2007. The ladders were manufactured in Mexico.
A full list of the model numbers and manufacturing date codes, located on the left side rail, can be found on the company website.
The company said that ladders with two green dots near the bottom of the left side base rail have already been inspected or repaired and are not included in the recall.
The ladders were sold at industrial supply stores and home centres throughout the U.S. from September through December 2007 for between $130 and $760.
Consumers should stop using the ladder immediately and contact Louisville Ladder for instructions on inspecting the ladder and receiving a free repair kit, if necessary.
