Boys' hooded sweatshirts recalled for strangulation hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and California's Siegfried & Parzifal Inc. issued a voluntary recall Wednesday of about 5,000 boys' hooded sweatshirts due to a strangulation risk.

The Karl Kani Boys' Fleece Hoody Sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood which poses a strangulation hazard. No injuries have been reported.

The full-zip sweaters were made in China and had model numbers MB7808, MB7809, MB7810 and MB7812, which can be found on the original hang tag. The words "Kani Polo" are printed on the neck tag and they were sold in various colours, including blue, gray, black, red and brown in boys sizes small and medium.

They were sold at A&E store, DD Discount, Forman Mills, The Marmaxx Groups and Suit Mart stores in the U.S. from July to October 2007.

Consumers should immediately remove the drawstring from the sweaters and/or contact Siegried & Parzifal for a refund at 1-866-268-2868.
