Candles sold by Pottery Barn and the Wick & Petal Co. are being recalled because they pose a fire danger, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
The recall applies to the following products:
- About 185,000 egg-shaped candles with the style numbers 9444811, 9444928, 9444936, 9444944, 9444944, 9445214, 9445222, 9445222, and 9445313, sold in Pottery Barn stores in the U.S. for between $10 and $20 US.
- Wick & Petal jar candles sold in Indiana from October 2007 through December 2007 for between $8 and $18 US.
The CPSC warns the exterior coating on the Pottery Barn candles may ignite. Two associated incidents have been reported. The candles were manufactured in Hong Kong.
Wick & Petal is warning consumers the flame on their candles may burn high. Seven associated incidents, involving minor property damage, have been reported. The candles were made in the United States.
Consumers should stop using the candles and return them for a refund.
