John Deere tractors recalled for safety hazard

About 5,400 John Deere compact utility tractors are being recalled in the U.S. to fix a problem with the drive pedal, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.

The CPSC warned the drive pedal might stick, causing the driver to lose control of the tractor. The company has learned of seven associated incidents, though no injuries have been reported.

The recall applies to tractors with the model number 3202 and the following serial numbers:

  • LV3203H000001 through LV3203H000010.
  • LV3203H190001 through LV3203H193434.
  • LV3203H393093.
  • LV3203H394001 through LV3203H396669.

The tractors were sold through John Deere dealers in the U.S. from September 2005 through December 2007 for about $15,500 US. The tractors were manufactured in the U.S.

Consumers should stop using the tractors and contact their dealers for a repair.
