Health Canada recalls plastic teether

Parents are being warned not to allow their infants to use certain plastic teethers that may pose a choking hazard.

The yellow and orange Infantino Lion Teethers, distributed by California-based Infantino LLC, come with a plastic nose that can detach. The company says it has received eight reports of the nose detaching, including one report of a child gagging on the bitten off nose.

Health Canada issued the warning on Thursday, urging consumers to take the teethers away from children immediately.

The yellow and orange plastic teethers have date codes 6116, 6129, 6158, 6137, 0606, 0806, 0906, and 1006. The codes can be found on the back of the lion's head.
About 1,800 teethers were all made in China and were sold in Canada at Toys "R" Us stores between June 2006 and December 2007.

Consumers can contact the company for a replacement teether or a product of equal value toll-free at (888) 808-3111 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. P.T Monday through Friday.
