About 125,000 Battat Magnabild construction sets are being recalled because small magnets in the toys may fall out, creating a safety hazard to young children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.
The CPSC warns the magnets can be swallowed or aspirated. When swallowed, magnets can twist, perforate or block the intestine with fatal results.
The CPSC and Battat have learned of 16 incidents of magnets falling out of the building pieces. No injuries were reported.
The recall affects the 293-piece and the 180-piece sets sold in U.S. stores and online retailers from 2005 through 2007 for between $30 and $40 US. The construction sets were manufactured in China.
Consumers should take the toys away from children and contact the company for a replacement.
