Pressure Cookers pulled for burn danger

Manttra Inc. is withdrawing about 38,250 pressure cookers because the lids may separate if not closed properly.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Friday the lid may separate and spill hot contents from the pot.

The company has learned of two associated incidents, involving minor burn injuries.

The recall applies to the Manttra Smart Series five-piece multi-cooker sets stamped with the model number 38270 on the base. The products were manufactured in India.

The pressure cookers were sold in U.S. stores from June 2003 through April 2007 for between $70 and $100 US.

Consumers should stop using the pressure cookers and contact the company for a new pressure valve.
