WMH Tool Group recalls miter saws for laceration danger

About 7,100 sliding miter saws manufactured by WMH Tool Group are being pulled because they pose a serious laceration danger, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Tuesday.

The commission said the saws may smoke, spark, trip circuit brakers and disable the safety brake because of a faulty handle switch.

The company has learned of six associated incidents. No injuries have been reported.

The recall applies to the Performax saws marked with the model No. 90206 and the Wilton model saws marked with the model No. 34570. The date codes range from W062505 to W070405.

The saws, which were made in China, were sold in the U.S. from August 2006 through March 2007 for between $150 US and $250 US each.

Consumers should stop using the saws and contact the company for a replacement or refund.
