Family Dollar stores withdraw Halloween pails for unsafe lead levels

About 142,000 Halloween pails sold through Family Dollar Stores in the U.S. are being recalled for unsafe lead levels, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The recall applies to purple pails with the SKU number 1033953 and the UPC number 017845000591.

The pails were sold in U.S. stores from August 2007 through October 2007 for about $1 US each.

Consumers should take the pails away from children and return them to the store for a refund.
